Each morning I will
write a morning message on chart paper. This is when I will focus on writing
conventions. Throughout the year I will conduct mini lessons on the
conventions that my school system requires. |

Mini lessons will
consist of teaching about the writing process, the six traits and the
genres of
writing required by my school system.

Quiet 10 |
During this time I
will play classical music and everyone, including myself, will quietly
write, draw, or think for 10 minutes.

Independent Writing
Conferences |
After the Quiet Ten, I will turn off the music
and students have
independent writing time. During this time students are
applying the skills they've learned from the mini lesson in
their own pieces. I will be monitoring students during this
time and conferring with students who have signed up for a
conference. |

Chair |
When time permits,
I will allow up to 3 students who have signed up for author's chair to
share. During this time the audience will "point & question" the
author. |
