Reading Workshop Schedule
100-125 Shared Reading I intend to use a bulletin board called "The FACES of a Reader." It is a list of Fluency, Accuracy, Comprehension, Extended Vocabulary Strategies and Strategies for Test Taking. My shared reading lessons will focus on these strategies. We will also use this time to take various assessments (weekly cold reads, quarterly benchmarks).
125-220 Individualized Daily Reading

Word Study
When students have Individualized Daily Reading, students read just right books from their book boxes. Students take their book box and find a book nook around the room. They use this time to practice skills taught during Shared Reading. While students are reading I might pull flexible reading groups based on reading strategies and skills, I might pull a guided reading group or I might hold reading conferences.

Students will also practice their word study during this time.
Monday- cut, initial, sort, record
Tuesday- sort, record
Wednesday- word hunt
Thursday- sort, glue
Friday- word study assessment
215-220
Closing During this time we may meet as a whole group to discuss how we practiced our reading strategies and skills for the day or students might meet in partners to discuss their reading.
I used information from Beth Newingham for math instruction in my classroom.
Check out her blog about it!
